The project team is committed to working with residents and businesses to minimize disruption during construction. From infrastructure repairs and better drainage to safety and beautification, residents and businesses will see and experience noticeable improvements in the Fenway neighborhood and adjacent roadways when the project is complete. The designers of this project have taken great care to develop a construction plan that minimizes inconveniences and keeps the lines of communication open with our neighbors.

How long is this project expected to take?
The project is currently scheduled for completion in early 2025.
What are the typical work hours for construction? Will the site be closed on holidays?
Standard work hours for project construction are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some select, less intensive activities may need to be performed on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The community will be notified in advance of any Saturday work.
Extended hours at night may be required for select activities at times; however, the contractor will strive to keep these instances to a minimum and abutters will be notified in advance.
The following is a list of non-working union holidays when the community can expect the job site to be closed and inactive this year (2024):
How can I report a noise complaint?
Construction activity does generate noise due to the presence of work crews, deliveries, digging, hammering, the use of power tools and heavy construction equipment. Demolition and foundation work may also create perceptible vibrations and noise. The contractor is moving to ensure that as many pieces of equipment as possible are outfitted with white noise alarms to help mitigate the noise.
There may also be limited short-term situations where nighttime work is required to carry out work that cannot be implemented during the day. When work needs to occur at night, the use of white noise backup alarms and sound blankets will be implemented to help mitigate noise.
To report a complaint of excessive noise, please contact us at 617-861-3677 or construction@421parkdr.com with any questions or concerns.
Is street parking still available near the work site?
The project will not impact parking availability on surrounding streets.
Will vehicles still be able to access the 401 Park Drive parking garage during construction?
Yes, vehicles will be able to access the 401 Park Drive parking garage. Please note that parking garage access is only available via the Fullerton Street entrance during construction.
What type of equipment can expect to be used during construction?
This type of construction work uses heavy construction vehicles, including dump trucks, concrete trucks, earth-moving equipment, demolition hammers and cranes, which does generate noise during operations. Work will only be conducted after regular operating hours when absolutely necessary and abutters will be notified in advance. The contractor may keep equipment within the work area for the duration of the project.
How do construction workers access the work site?
Specific work site entrances for construction personnel are clearly marked and visible to the public. The number of workers required during construction will vary depending upon project schedule and they are required to park offsite. Jobsite personnel do not park in the garage and they are encouraged to utilize public transportation to minimize additional vehicles in the neighborhood.
Is the pedestrian and bicycle multi-use path behind the building open during construction?
Pedestrian and bicycle path access immediately adjacent to the project site will be open, accessible, and maintained throughout the project. A new temporary MBTA pedestrian pathway connecting the MBTA station to Park Drive is being constructed to provide continuous and safe pedestrian access throughout the project. If walking and cyclist detours are necessary to ensure pedestrian and bicyclist safety, signs outlining new routes will be clearly posted.
Will roads be blocked in my neighborhood?
Truck volume will vary throughout the construction and specific truck routes have been identified to help minimize traffic congestion, particularly at peak travel times. Traffic impacts will be mostly limited to Fullerton Street.
How will the construction affect neighboring residents and businesses?
Construction activity does generate noise due to demolition and foundation work, the presence of work crews, deliveries, digging, hammering, the use of power tools and heavy construction equipment. The project team is committed to minimizing the impacts of construction on the neighborhood and making efforts to keep the work site clean by limiting dust and debris, coordinating material deliveries to minimize traffic congestion, detours and delays, and keeping the lines of communication open so abutting businesses and residents know what to expect in advance.
The contractor has enhanced dust mitigation efforts on the site and augmented dust management plans with several new pieces of equipment to aid in suppressing the dust generated by the demolition. Aerial lulls outfitted with water suppression cannons, mobile ground water suppression units and a water pumper truck were put in place on the job site to control dust and ensure healthy air quality as the project moves forward.
